ZEITLAUF® antriebstechnik sets the future in motion with “EQ3 – Economic Quality”

The era of efficiency and sustainability in the drive technology sector began long ago. For years the industry has been grappling with environmentally-friendly technologies aimed at sparing ever more scarce resources. However, there is still enormous potential for reducing energy consumption even further as well as for increasing productivity and efficiency at the same time. Gearmotors from ZEITLAUF® antriebstechnik stand out for their powerful performance and durability combined with high efficiency rates that make it possible to use smaller motors that consume less energy.
Less is more. This rule of thumb has been top priority at ZEITLAUF® antriebstechnik for a long time. We apply an energy saving mindset right at the design stage as well as in the subsequent production stages based upon it. In this way, intelligent and farsighted design ideas generate various options for saving on materials and energy during production. Energy-optimised drive operation is the next logical step. With our innovative gearmotors we are setting the standards in drive technology and providing the “green” technology of the future. This is all incorporated in our “EQ3 – Economic Quality” concept that embodies the three relevant factors of energy efficiency, environmental conservation and durability:

1. Energy efficiency
Small high-performance drives with high rates of efficiency make it possible to use significantly smaller motors that consume considerably less energy – direct with the drive itself but also with all the peripherals. Our EtaCrown® angle gearhead, which features crownwheel technology, is a development highlight. The average efficiency rate being in excess of 95% in the single stage version and more than 85% in the two-stage version means that this gearhead uses markedly less electrical energy than worm gearheads, for instance, to obtain the same output.
This adds up to 70% less power loss or an efficiency rate that is up to 3.5 times better. Its power means that EtaCrown® provides significant savings by using smaller electronic assemblies and switching power supplies as well as – contrary to worm gearheads – by using motors that consume substantially less power.
2. Environmental conservation

NoiselessPlus from ZEITLAUF® antriebstechnik, for instance, was also developed with environmental-friendliness in mind. NoiselessPlus stands out for its unbeatable smoothness and is one of the most smooth running and quietest planetary gearheads on the market. Essential to the quietness of this range (< 40 dB) are the planetary gearwheels made of high-quality plastic. The helical toothing provides even engagement, which makes it possible to transfer particularly high loads. The teeth are produced by slotting, rather than casting, for ultimate precision, using a production process we developed ourselves.
Cross-grinding in the bearing holes for the plastic planetary wheels ensures that the lubricant is optimally distributed. Placing the planetary wheels in a bearer cage that rests on ball bearings both sides – our unique HRL process – means that not only can NoiselessPlus cope with much higher radial loads than other gearheads of its size, it can also maintain its excellent running characteristics even under radial stress. Yet one more important contribution to environmental protection is our standard modular system that stands out not just for its wealth of 4,039 variants, but also for the high degree of production efficiency its use of the maximum number of identical components permits.
3. Durability

An example of maximum durability is provided by the powerful special planetary gearhead for dialysis applications from ZEITLAUF® antriebstechnik. It goes without saying that a high degree of energy efficiency is a feature of the special planetary gearhead motor. This newly developed drive unit is designed to last for 40,000 hours. It is based on the same design as the innovative NoiselessPlus gearhead, the planetary gearwheels of which run inside a bearer cage. This makes it possible for the gearhead output shaft to cope with greater radial loads whilst tooth grip is optimum at the same time. This has positive benefits as regards the smoothness and lifetime of the drive unit.
The technological advantages of the compact design, the extreme smoothness plus extreme long life are very clear reasons for opting for this special planetary gearhead. Further technical development of all our gearmotors in terms of efficiency and lifetime is an important philosophy to us, bringing constant improvement and resulting increases in performance levels.
