EtaCrown® – the bevel gear you can count on.
The ZEITLAUF® gearmotor company based in Lauf a. d. Pegnitz has revolutionised conventional crown gear technology with their innovative and intelligent bevel gearhead! It has outstanding advantages: EtaCrown® – a fully-developed high-end product which, after intensive development at a high technical level, will now be launched on the market. Main applications will be material handling, medical engineering and door mechanisms.
The function and design of EtaCrown® make it an innovative alternative to drives with worm or bevel spur gearheads. This technology goes past the limits of conventional crown gearheads and redefines bevel gearhead applications. Its outstanding performance is due to unique features: because of the improved efficiency of approx. 90% on average, far less electrical energy is required to obtain the same output than with worm gearheads (power loss is reduced by up to 70%). An EtaCrown® gearhead allows the size of the drive motor to be reduced, thus saving drive costs. In addition, the energy consumption in the application is reduced. Furthermore, EtaCrown® gearheads guarantee a longer service life than worm gearheads at the same load level. The reason is that the EtaCrown® gear teeth roll off one another and do not slide, as is the case with worm gears. The bevel gearhead’s symmetry allows space to be saved when installing sections. Because the motor shaft and the output shaft of EtaCrown® are in one axis, these drives can easily be installed mirror-inverted. This is beneficial e.g. in door drives when two drives are used opposite each other. Worm drives also require much wider sections and two different worm drive types. EtaCrown®, however, can get by with much narrower sections. Also its exceptional appearance adds to this innovative product. The nicely-shaped and functional design with its completely smooth surface allows visible installation of the drive within the application.
Stronger – smaller – more efficient
EtaCrown® – the intelligent bevel gearhead with crown gear technology – opens up new innovative potential. Since it is part of the intelligent and unique standard modular system range of ZEITLAUF® , it has a large number of advantages: in productivity, efficiency and performance as well as in terms of product combinations and variety. For example, EtaCrown® is available with an upstream and downstream stage, DC, EC and AC motors as well as associated ancillary components such as brakes and transmitters - all available within 48 hours. The well thought-out modular concept and symmetrical design reduce the number of components, thus minimising stock-keeping for the customer. This is a significant factor, and ZEITLAUF® helps its customers by making an important contribution to economy and increased efficiency in production. This paves the way not only for the highest-level of customised solutions – it also generates significant cost savings across the user’s entire application range. In this way, ZEITLAUF® has also achieved the economic production of crown gear technology for small business purposes.
Powerful, efficient and reliable in cycle and continuous operation. The bevel gearhead offers various advantages in terms of efficiency:
- Thanks to its high efficiency, input power and therefore plant/system costs are reduced.
- Reduced waste heat due to smaller motors and reduced power loss means less energy is needed for drive and cooling.
- Extended service life through reduced motor load and tooth flank wear.
No less important is that a clear safety advantage is obtained e.g. in door drives: In contrast to worm gears, EtaCrown® is protected against self-locking. In addition, the gearhead can easily be turned back by hand in the event of a power cut, without supplementary components being needed for decoupling.
