Manufacturer declares goodwill to be its standard: Keep Word Warranty on Gear Motors

- A promise is a promise. With the Keep Word Warranty the customer is assured that defective gear motors will either simply be exchanged or repaired.
Gear motors are the heart of many automation applications and hence they should work reliably at all times. If however a motor should break down at some time, it must be repaired as soon as possible, or a replacement found. This is when the end user often finds themselves in trouble; if it is likely – or indeed obvious – that the motor has broken down owing to incorrect use, the end user has no claim under warranty and must bear the full costs of a new motor. To be able to simply exchange the motor free of charge is something many end users dream of.
Zeitlauf, the drives specialist now offers its customers a “Keep Word Warranty”. This applies to all gear motors from its standard modular series that have been purchased in quantities of up to 20 units. In practice this means: If a gear motor fails it will be repaired free of charge or replaced with a new one up to twice within a year after it was purchased. In this event it is irrelevant if the motor was damaged owing to a defect or by being operated incorrectly. In addition to this, when the new or repaired motor is dispatched to the user, it is accompanied by a report on the reason for the breakdown. In this way it is possible to avoid incorrect use and hence future unnecessary downtimes. If the search for the fault shows that the drive was clearly being overloaded, Zeitlauf offers to exchange it for a more powerful gear motor from its product range. In this case the purchase price of the less powerful motor is set off against the price and the customer pays only the difference. This service, which is unparalleled to date, is so popular with users that the offer, initially only made for a limited period, has now been included in the company’s regular services.
